Elevator Cabin Disinfection

The rapidly increasing population in the world has brought about dense urban life. Although urban living spaces are limited, our cities have been captive to vertical construction. Elevators have taken an indispensable place in our lives with the increase in floor heights with vertical construction. These systems, which are used extensively in places such as business centers, hotels, shopping malls other than residences, also provide great convenience to our lives.

New epidemic diseases occur in the world every day. Epidemics are spreading faster and pose great threats with the increase in the population living in the city and the diversity of transportation facilities.

While our world is having a hard time due to the corona virus, cleaning, hygiene and disinfection have become more important in our lives. As a result of the researches, it has been found that the virus hangs in the air for around 2-3 hours. Although the sterilization processes performed on the surfaces vary according to the type of product used, it can provide protection from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. However, it does not have any activity in places where there is a lot of human mobility.

The risk of contamination is very high due to elevators, which are an indispensable part of our lives in our buildings, hotels, shopping malls, which are one of the places where there is a lot of human mobility. In this sense, no matter how much surface disinfection has been made, the risk of airborne contamination is high. The more we pay attention to social distance, the better we see that it is necessary to take extra protective measures and to minimize possible disease risks.

As Yeşil Grup Enerji, we minimize the risk by disinfection with UV rays for elevators, which are indispensable equipment of our lives. In addition to chemical applications for elevator cabin disinfection, elevator cars are now more reliable with the AEREM 19 PRO device, which performs both surface and air sterilization.

What is Ultraviolet Ray?

The main source of ultraviolet rays is the sun and it is one of the types of electromagnetic radiation such as gamma and microwave rays. While the human eye can detect rays between 400 nm and 700 nm; UV rays are rays with wavelengths between 100 nm and 400 nm. It is possible to examine UV rays in 3 classes according to their wavelengths.

  • UV A Long Wave Rays: These are rays with long wavelengths between 315 nm and 400 nm. It is used in some medical applications, printing applications and solariums.

  • UV B Medium Wave Rays: These are medium wavelength rays between 280 nm and 315 nm. It is used in some medical applications, printing applications and solariums.

  • UV C Short Wave Rays: These are short wavelength rays between 200 nm and 280 nm. UVC rays are often referred to as germicidal light. Due to its short wavelength and high energy, UV-C rays can neutralize all kinds of pathogenic microorganisms. Due to this feature, UVC rays with short wavelengths are used for sterilization. Although the wavelength is very important in UVC beam disinfection, as you can see in the most effective wavelength spectrum, they are rays with a wavelength of 253.7 nm.

When using UV C rays for disinfection, it should be known that the most important issue is the wavelength. Efficiency values decrease according to wavelength. The most efficient wavelength is 253.7 nm, and the efficiency decreases at larger wavelengths.

How Does UV-C Light Destroy Microorganisms?

Short wavelength ultraviolet UV lamps are used for disinfection. Short wavelength UV rays are UV rays in the range of 200 nm to 280 nm. The most effective radiation on microorganisms is UV rays with a wavelength of 254 nm.

Ultraviolet rays prevent the loss of their ability to reproduce with their effects on the gene sequence on microorganisms, preventing them from damaging and reproducing.

UV rays are absorbed by the cell and these rays form a covalent bond with Thymine bases (nucleic acid) in the cell, resulting in Thymine dimers and constitute the basic damage type of rays. These dimers damaged by ultraviolet rays cause folding in DNA strands and the spiral structure of DNA is disrupted.

This damage makes it difficult for the gene sequence to be newly formed during cell division to be processed and activated. Even if the gene sequence is complete, mutant cells that are incapable of reproducing are formed.

How Long Does UV Light Destroy Microorganisms?

The most effective wavelength of UV C rays known as germicidal used for disinfection with UV rays is 253.7 nm. The higher the wavelength, the lower the effective force of the beam.

As the duration and intensity of ultraviolet light increases (by increasing the voltage or getting closer to the source), the number of microorganisms that die increases. The energy given by the UV source to a certain area is measured in microwatts.

When calculating the efficiency of the UV system, it is proportional to the intensity and duration of the UV light required. In short, it is proportional to the duration of the UV light falling on a certain area (μW. Seconds / cm2). The effectiveness and time required for the inactivation of microorganisms also vary according to the structure and type of microorganism.

What are the Advantages of Ultraviolet Systems?

  • Advantages of ultraviolet systems over chemical disinfection systems;

  • UV disinfection process is simple to apply. The disinfection device can be installed directly in the elevator cabins.

  • Disinfection process with UV light does not cause any harm to the environment after necessary precautions and measures are taken.

  • UV rays are very effective on many microorganisms (bacterial viruses).

  • UV disinfection does not leave a permanent substance on the surface compared to any chemical application.

  • UV rays have a short duration of action.

  • UV disinfection applications do not cause corrosion like chemical applications.

  • UV disinfection systems are easy to operate and low maintenance costs.

UV Sterilizer for Lift Cabin Disinfection

With the increasing epidemic diseases in the world, we once again understood the importance of hygiene and cleanliness. In this context, necessary precautions and measures should be taken in social life. In this context, new concepts have emerged in our social life. In addition to the measures implemented successfully in our country, businesses also take the necessary measures.

It is stated by experts that elevators, which make our lives easier and have an indispensable place, are one of the places that need to be paid the most attention in the epidemic. Although the elevator cabins are disinfected with chemical disinfection methods, the risk of contamination is very high due to the high mobility.

As Yeşil Grup Enerji, we are pleased to present the AEREM19 PRO product we designed to prevent possible contamination risks in elevators. AEREM 19 PRO, which is unique in the world with its design and working style, offers both surface and air sterilization with its hybrid working style.

While chemical disinfection processes in elevators provide protection only on surfaces, AEREM19 PRO performs disinfection process on both the surface and the buttons with a lot of contact. AEREM19 PRO working in two stages makes both air and surface sterilization. Your elevators are now safer with AEREM 19 PRO, which is unique in the world in terms of operation. By using AEREM19 PRO in your lifts, you can offer the most sterile environment for your visitors.
